Basketball Santa Sabina | Term 4 2022 (Year 7 to Year 12)

Basketball is a team sport in which two teams of five players each, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball through the defender’s hoop while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop.

Uniform

The uniform items required for this sport are as follows:
MLC School numbered Basketball Singlet
MLC School Basketball Shorts
MLC School PE Uniform or MLC School Tracksuit is to be worn to and from all games
Uniform can be purchased from the Uniform Shop

Training Details

All players will have one (1) training session each week before school from 7am to 8am. Training for Basketball will be held on the courts adjacent to the Music Centre. The training days are yet to be confirmed.

Absences

On the rare occasions that it may be necessary for a player to miss training or a competition:

• If the inability to attend is known in advance – a written explanation (email) from the player’s parent/carer is to be given to the coach in advance. This notice should be given as early as possible.
• If the player is absent from school on the day of training or on competition day – the player’s parent/carer is asked to advise the coach and Sports Department of their daughter’s absence from training or the game.

Non-attendance

Continued failure to attend training or competitions without a timely written explanation is unacceptable and may jeopardise the player’s continued involvement in sport.

A member of the Sports Department will contact Parents/carers of students whose non-attendance at training or games is not notified in the correct manner.

Communication

Our main form of communication with the players and their parents is via email and occasionally text messages. Please ensure you regularly check emails to ensure you are well informed regarding Basketball in 2022. The Sports Update in Audacia, the weekly newsletter also contains important information. This newsletter is sent every Friday afternoon during term time.

• Bookings are only valid once payment transaction is complete and information is received.
• Processed bookings will provide an email receipt including a Customer Reference Number. We advise you to print this email and keep it for your records.

Terms and Conditions

• I understand the number of teams MLC School enters into a competition is usually determined prior to the grading process. For this reason, it is not always possible to accommodate students in teams if they miss the registration window.
• I understand it is MLC School policy that teams are formed based on skill level and not for transport or social reasons.
• I understand my daughter will need to attend one training session per week. Training days will be determined following team selections and coach allocations.
• I understand my daughter will need to attend Saturday matches with times varying between 8am and 12pm during the season. My daughter must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the game for sufficient warm up and registration.
• I understand the registration fee is non-refundable.
• I understand the season runs from Saturday 15 October to Saturday 26 November 2022
