2019 TERM 3 Fencing

Years 5 - 12 TERM 3, 2019

Dear Parents & Players,

Each term MLC has students that train and compete in fencing. Training will be conducted during Term 3, 2019 and each term following. Please read the following information carefully as it will form the basis for your involvement in Fencing at MLC in 2019.

There is an absolute expectation that all players fulfil their contractual obligations during the season and that they do so with the active support of their parents. Areas of particular concern to the Sports Department are the punctual attendance of players at training and competitions and appropriate parental notification of absences from these commitments.

Training Dates: Each Tuesday (Beginner), Thursday (Advanced) and Friday (All fencers) morning in Term 3, 2019

Training Times: 7am - 8am

Venue: Daphne Line Hall (Above the Junior School) Please meet at the Aquatic Centre Foyer at 6.45am to collect equipment.

Uniform: MLC PE Uniform for training.

Equipment: The school will provide all equipment required for participation in Fencing Training. For safety and hygiene reasons, regular fencers should purchase their own masks.

On the rare occasions that it may be necessary for a player to miss training or a competition:

  • If the inability to attend is known in advance - a written explanation (email) from the player’s parent/guardian is to be given to the coach in advance. This notice should be given as early as possible.
  • If the player is absent from school on the day of training or on competition day - the player’s parent/guardian is asked to advise the coach and sports department of their child’s absence from training or the game.

Please Note: Continued failure to attend training or competitions without a timely written explanation is unacceptable and may jeopardise the player’s continued involvement in sport.

A member of the sports department will contact Parents/guardians of students whose non-attendance at training or games is not notified in the correct manner.

Coach: Erin Bofinger

Communication: Our main form of communication with the players and their parents is via email and occasionally text messages. Please ensure you regularly check emails to ensure you are well informed regarding Fencing in 2019. The Sports Update in the newsletter also contains important information.

Registration: Interested Students must complete their online fencing Contract by 28 June 2019. Players who do not register before this date are not guaranteed a place in the program.

Fees: NON-REFUNDABLE fee of no more than $160.00 will be charged at the point of registration. Fees include registration, insurance, team equipment and coaching fees. Please note there will be additional fees for any competitions entered.

In registering for this sport, I agree to:

* ensure my daughter is committed to all training sessions and competitions
* ensure that my daughter wears the correct uniform at all times
* abide by the players' and spectators' code of conduct
* having my contact details on the team contact list

I understand that:
* the registration fee is non refundable
* failure to be committed to training and games may jeopardise my daughter's involvement in sport at MLC

* I understand that while MLC School takes measures to make the sporting activities as safe as reasonably possible for participants, there is a risk that students can be injured and suffer loss (including financial loss) and damage as a result of their participation in these sporting activities, whether at training or in actual events.
